Starting Practices FAQ "No thought, no reflection, no analysis, no cultivation, no intention; let it settle itself" ~ Tilopa [Notice: part of walking the path is being open - the questions you have may be of value to others - so emails are subject to being posted as a way of helping others- Thank you for your contribution with this and giving the opportunity to be of service.] Sadhakas are not to be warring against ego - but to look deep and find out the illusion called ego... warring against is another dead end that keeps another drama in place... --GuruSwamiG
Q: What are the Starting Practices? A: IATIA ("I AM That I AM"), OTIA ("OM That I AM"), Balanced Breathing and Shakti Eyes Darshan. Details of these Practices can be found at http://www.guruswamig.com/startingpractice.html . Take the time to read carefully all the information there and view the videos as this keeps the ashram email traffic reserved for practice progress reports. [The Practices Video Collection [Click Here]] However, don't hesitate to ask if you have question about the Practices since this is central to this Path. Q: Which of IATI (I Am That I Am) and OTIA should be done in silence or said out loud? A: IATIA (I Am That I Am) is done audibly. OTIA (Om That I Am) is done in silence, inwardly and slowly with intention. Both are to be done with soft focus and NOT in a robotic manner. Ease and Flow. When doing either, keep the focus on the Spiritual Heart Center, which is located slightly to the right side of the chest. Q: Do I have to sit to do the Starting Practices? A: No. One should immerse in the practices at all times in all places. The Mantras and Balanced Breathing can be done anywhere at anytime. When one needs to engage in discussion or activity, do so and then fall back into the practices.
Q: My belly is looking bloated doing BB (Balanced Breath-Shanti Mind Pranayam) so much, is this common? A: The Balanced Breath(Shanti Mind Pranayam) does not create bloating. You are most likely taking too heavy of breaths and holding them. Relax the belly. Keep it soft and focus on balanced, slow and gentle breaths through the nose. Then exhale completely at a slow and steady pace. Q: What is COS and MM? A: COS is The Contemplation of Self given at first Diksha. MM are the Morning Mantras given at second Diksha. Once first Diksha is received, devote as much time as you are able listening to these. When listening, do so while sitting up or walking, but never while driving or lying down. Also, NEVER allow anyone to hear the COS or MM that has not already received them as a result of Diksha from Guru. There is a Transmission that could affect the energy in others and awaken Kundalini prematurely. Never do COS nor MM while driving or operating machinery. Both cause shifts in consciousness where focused attention may be interrupted. Q: When can I request first Diksha? A: After at least 3 months of consistently doing the Starting Practices, engaging in the Online Ashram at least once a week with progress updates and at the final discretion of Guru based on readiness. Q: When can I request second Diksha? A: After there has been steady progress, openness and consistency in place with all the Practices, including the COS and at the discretion of Guru based on readiness. Q: My mind runs wild when doing practices, is this common? A: Yes. The mind is used to constant motion and jabbering and when stepping back to engage in the practices, this will be quite apparent. Consistency and Persistence with all of the practices will quiet the mind in increasing degrees. As soon as the mind stirs or is begging for attention, fall into the Practices and Heart Center. This is usually enough to quiet the storm. Just remember, "This too shall pass." No need to worry, fret or get frustrated: just watch as the play of mind rises and falls and rest securely in the practices. Q: I also do third eye meditations, will these practices interfere with that? A: Do not focus on the third eye, as we do not want to create or get caught up within phenomena. Rather, keep the focus on the Spiritual Heart Center, which is located on the right side of the chest. DO NOT change anything about the Practices, as they are ONLY TO BE DONE AS GIVEN BY GuruSwamiG. Q: I have studied quite a bit about spirituality, can I help others here at this ashram? No. Most of what you have learned will mostly likely need to be "unlearned" as GuruSwamiG has found much popular spiritual teaching is rooted in dualism. This is a Non-Dualistic approach that is very new to most who come here. If you are offended by this, this might not be the place for you. Q: If "my" Kundalini isn't awake can you guarantee an awakening within a certain time frame? A: Absolutely not. A Kundalini Awakening is dependent upon the openness and readiness of the seeker, but above all, is dictated by Grace. Q: Can you guarantee Realization within a certain time frame? A: Never. Again, Realization is dependent upon the openness and readiness of the seeker, while being Governed by Grace. Q: Can I have my money back if either the Kundalini does not awaken or Realization does not take place? A: If you must ask this question, then it is better if you go on your way, as obviously, there is no openness or readiness, so Grace cannot make an appearance. There is no fee for anything offered here, however donations are accepted to keep the ashram functioning. No one is turned away due to any financial concerns. Tuesday is Gurus Day Off and Sages will respond to posts.]
When Things Get Emotionally Stirred Up . . GuruSwamiG suggests Things begin to get stirred up so they can be released - so during this time 1. Do the Balanced breath - 2. Also the Gratitude Diary every day so you can look back through it during the like this to keep you going forward during the dry spells and also the time of releasing and dislodging. 3. Walk yourself through it - In This Moment the ONLY thing happening is - then name it without the mental spin drama and emotionality involvement. Take a deep breath and blow it out and be ready to move on. 4. Grab your most inspirational music - and keep balance to the situation. You can sit through the rising emotional upheavals feel them (without the drama storyline) and find a doorway through on the other side is calm.
Aides for the Kundalini Journey What to do when Kundalini Energy is Running on High ---- . . GuruSwamiG suggests: 1 . The path of Kundalini is a path of Awakened Energy and Consciousness that is turning back on its self like the snake eating it's own tail.... 2. Understand that there Will be Energy and there Will be major shifts of Awareness along the way... So don't go into a panic about feeling energy traversing through the form... 3. Recognize it is only energy and is working to move one forward. 4. You may experience finding out that consciousness is not locked within a form... 5 . You may experience you are not the body...
What are the Aides that can ease the journey a bit when it feels to be going on overload.... A. Always start with the balanced breath and seeing that this too will pass.... B. See that in This Moment I AM FINE.... don't get carried awayas you will only increase the drama of it... C. Don't put undo focus on the area where the energy increase is taking place as this only serves to increase it even more... D. Make sure you are eating a heavy enough protein... Yes meat.... Tofu or nut's isn't heavy enough to bring the NEEDED balance.. As you don't want your nervous system fried... Start with Fish - go to Chicken and if still running to high eat Beef.... Get meats from Whole Foods or a place range fed without hormones etc.. E. Back off listening to the Guru-G music as it carries a big transmission... F. some new age music or other types may be un-grounding for a time... G. Go outside and walk across the ground --- allow the energy to go into the ground... H. Sit with your back against a tree --- Trees are very stable.... I. Take a warm relaxing bath and use some salt in it..... J. drink a warm glass of milk with a bit of butter and sugar in it.... K. If the above isn't enough and you feel as if you are getting fried --- See doctor for anxiety and see if he will prescribe Clonazapam as it takes the edge off the energy... AND L. It can also calm you enough to get the much needed rest....Nothing more than the minimum dosage is needed and this should only be used AS Needed on emergency days to take the edge off things so that one can function... This is not a cure all -- neither is it to be taken on a daily basis for Kundalini symptoms... This of course must be co-ordinated with your doctor... i cannot prescribe and this is information is offered only due to the fact of knowing it has been quite effective for myself and others walking the Kundalini path... You may broach your doctor if the energy is causing extreme feelings of anxiousness and sleepless nights... Maha Shanti OM i welcome you All with Great Love and Respect.
