What a Guru Gives, and What a Guru Doesn't Give . . . Gurus ---Sadhakas and WALKING THE PATH The Guru is the ship that ferries one across the waters ---- but in order for this to take place the sadhaka's have to actually get on the ship.... There is so much misunderstanding in place by people coming into this Online Ashram..... Guru is the ship and practices are the oars --- but it takes the Sadhaka to follow the map and directions of pointings and to use the oars of the pratices to move forward.... one can sit in the ship and go nowhere when you are expecting the ship to have automatic oar rowing... or if you only use one oar all that will happen is the Sadhaka will go in circles.... If Guru's could hand Realization to Sadhaka's like an object then anyone that has ever gone to a Guru would be Enlightened.... But that is not the case.... Realization and Enlightenment has been a very rare happening --- but here things are breaking apart and there has and continues to be unlike anything in history to date.... Sage after Sage is coming into the world --- and more are ready to explode onto the scene.... This is an exciting event in history... If a Guru in past history had only one or two that entered Realization then their life mission was a success and a Blessing to humanity...So HOW in the world can people get the idea that any Guru is responsible for your progress or that Realization may be assured to any ? Realization happens by GRACE.... A Guru has no control over : 1. ones willingness to actually do what is given... 2. entering into Bhakti versus mind stuff 3. your past karmic baggage 4. ones over all seeing of the Admonitions as Grace 5. resistance ON Resistance --- in working with Energy a resistance in the wire and Heat Builds --- So when there is heavy resistance a heating up takes place heating of the emotions or energies felt in the form.... Energy travels the path of least resistance... So you want to move forward then Surrender and Understand that what is being given in the way of Practices When done From the Heart in All Love and Respect moves one forward Rapidly.... To build up resistance to the Guru and to the pointings only serves to Heat up the situation and block the flow of energy.... Got It ? This blocks the Grace that could be coming through.... If one does the practices grudgingly and not from within a Heart of Loving Acceptance of knowing that Grace is in motion – then simply you are by your own hand bringing **stagnation*** and stopping the flow of Grace which could be in place.... A Guru Gives 1. Any and all practices that may benefit the seeker 2. Guidance to continue forward 3. Wisdom and pointings towards Truth not fallacy 4. Ways to mitigate karma when one Surrenders into Grace 5. Tough Love as needed out of Compassion for ones suffering. 6. Transmissions that move the Surrendered Sadhaka's forward at lightening speed. 7. Diksha or Energy Blessings can bring rapid Shifts to Consciousness as Guru is linking into the energy system and consciousness to allow it an opportunity to come more into sync with the Gurus Stillness andAwareness... When a Sadhaka has a resistance to this then NO GURU will overpower any Sadhaka as the Sadhaka's freewill of keeping ego alive will effectively keep a barrier in place that the Guru will not cross.... There are some who may do the practices fully with as open of a heart as possible but they may have another lifetime to go to break down all the conditionings of mind. In these cases they will pick up where they left off and continue forward to Realization in the next life. Many times it is much easier to get a very simplistic uneducated man to Realization than it is to get a scholar there --- Why ? Because the simple man may be more accepting of what is given openly than the highly educated man that is a sceptic or comes in with much book learning that has to all be stripped bare before moving forward... It is easier to Surrender when one KNOWS they know nothing versus when they think they know more than what they do... Like the saying goes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing..... Come in Humility and be like a sponge that is overjoyed at gaining the water which will change it's dry barren state into that of being pregnant and full of the living waters of Life.... A Sadhaka is responsible for thier life --- a Guru is in place to aide you in moving forward in a beneficial way.... What a Guru cannot do is to live your life for you... You make your choices and You must live with the outcomes of your actions... Every choice you make opens doors and closes doors... Every action brings a set of potential happenings and all of this remains in the harmony or within disharmony in the transient world... Guru's and Sages offer the best that may be given --- The Pearl of Great Price Whether it is opened up to or fought against (by keeping in ego first) is up to the seeker... |

What Is the Nature of Guru Protocol? Guru protocol, as outlined in the Kularnava Tantra and Guru Gita, defines Guru protocol can be understood in three parts: devotional acts, codes of harmony and prohibitions. Devotional acts include serving the guru, prostrating daily and offering a gift in love, chanting his or her name and meditating on his or her inner form as the embodiment of the Divine, partaking of ucchishta-waters from his or her holy sandals, and his or her food leavings-emulating his or her awakened qualities, seeking initiation and striving for Self Realization as he directs. Codes of harmony include seeking hisor her blessings, obeying his or her directions, keeping no secrets and honoring his or her lofty presence. Prohibitions include never contradicting or arguing with the guru, never criticizing him or her, nor listening to criticism by others, not imitating his or herdress or deportment, not standing or sitting above himor her, nor walking or driving ahead of him or her; not assuming authority in his or her presence, nor uttering words of falsehood or contempt, and not initiating conversation or asking questions unless invited. The Kularnava Tantra explains, "Be always in service of the guru, ever in his or her presence, giving up desire and anger, humble and devoted, lauding in spirit, upright in doing his or her work." Aum Namah Sivaya. What Is the Satguru's Unique Function? To transcend the mind and reach the ultimate goal, seekers need the guidance of a satguru, an enlightened master who has followed the path to its natural end and can lead them to the Divine within themselves. Aum Namah Sivaya. The satguru is the devotee's spiritual guide and preceptor, friend and companion on the path. Having become religion's consummation, the satguru can see where others are and know what their next step should be. Nothing is more precious than the first soul-quickening, life-changing shaktipata from a guru. Nothing is more central to spiritual awakening than the progressive dikshas, or initiations, he bestows. A satguru is needed because the mind is so cunning and the ego is a self-perpetuating mechanism. It is he or her who inspires, assists, guides and impels the shishya toward the Self of himself. The satguru, perfected in his or her relationship with Siva, administrates the sadhana and tapas that slowly incinerate the seeds of sanchita karmas. It is his or her task to preside over the annihilation of the shishya's ego and subconscious dross, all the while guiding the awakened kundalini force so that safe, steady progress can be made from stage to stage. The Agamas affirm, "Individuals who become, by the grace of Siva, eager to extricate themselves from worldly fetters, obtain initiation from a competent preceptor into the path that leads to Sivasayujya." Aum Namah Sivaya. |

(To remain and join the ashram, Dangerous Friend is required reading.) with Commentary from GuruSwamiG
Dangerous Friend: "Without the vajra master, there is no Vajrayana." O- this is true --- without the Vajra Master there are just words in the wind...
Dangerous Friend: Vajra relationship is regarded as making enlightenment, at some point, in some lifetime, inevitable. That is why vajra realtionship becomes the foundation of a commitment that is more than lifelong. O- The Guru makes a commitment to getting you to Realization no matter how many lifetimes it takes...
Dangerous Friend: The relationship between vajra master and vajra student should be the most important relationship in one's life as a spiritual aspirant. This is the only relationship we can have which ultimately leads to enlightenment. For a Vajrayana student, it is more important than this one life. O- This is true and Why there are so many cautions about chasing after relationships that are going to be jealous of the path and determined to pull you away...
Dangerous Friend: Vajra masters challenge their students to be conscious of their tendency to prioritize or take refuge in passing mind-moments, the ever-changing contents of mind, as contrasted with the unchanging nature of Mind. O- Yes the Guru keeps throwing you back into the practices that will Still the mind... The drama is to take a back seat....
Dangerous Friend: Unifying with the mind of the vajra master is the fruit of the practice of guru yoga, which is the essential practice of Vajrayana. The coming together of teacher and student at this level is called vajra relationship or vajra commitment. O- Eventually the student is dissolved into the Master hence Realization.
Dangerous Friend: The preparation for vajra commitment would have a great deal to do with gaining an understanding of its principle and function and taking responsibility for oneself as a person who is able to make promises and keep them. O- Yes -- to take Diksha and then to walk away is a grave error. The path requires Dedication, Integrity and Honesty ... When you enter into a commitment then one Should by All means follow through...
Dangerous Friend: What should be most striking to the authentic Vajrayana student is that, out of all the teachers of all times, it is this particular teacher who has manifested in the student's life right now. This is the teacher whom the student has had the karmic fortune to meet. This is the ground for the vajra commitment. O- There are opportunities that come -- it is up to the Sadhaka to Understand and to Cherish and keep Sacred this bond --- as this opportunity is not to be found but rarely....
Dangerous Friend: Our commitment closes off doors to the past; it calls into question every kind of non-Buddhist refuge and serves to sever one's commitment to other conceptual allegiances, whether religious, philosophical, psychological or politicaL. The point is, that in taking refuge, we are saying that from now on this will be our context, this will be the overarching paradigm, the pattern that contains all patterns. The heart of the vajra commitment is simply being prepared to do anything. O- The Primary life focus should be the path in order to enter Realization.. The primary goal of Tantric practice is to experience the relationship between form and emptiness as non-duality. The idea of form gets swallowed up and simply the Consciousness of Ground of Being remains...
Dangerous Friend: Devotion to the teacher is the core of all our practices. Without devotion there can be no vajra relationship, because vajra commitment requires letting go of one's rationale and entering into a relationship of complete reliance on the enlightened nature of the vajra master. What makes devotion possible is trusting oneself to keep one's vows, which in turn makes one a dependable focus for others. Authentic devotion is empowering because it frees us from confusion and doubt. Devotion arises from trust...trust at a very deep level. Trust in the lineage of the guru, trust in the commitment, dedication and realization of the guru. Trust in the guru's desire for the disciple's realization. O- This is why you cannot come in clinging to a past Guru in devotion while not fully Surrendering here and expect that the practices are going to allow Grace to manifest.... When you come in and say i don't trust you but am willing to see what i'm going to get from the practices then the mego is effectively closing the door to receive anything... You cannot keep allegiance elsewhere in devotion and then want to come and Test this Guru with your mego to see if it's going to get something or not.. When there is not Faith and Trust in Surrender then YOU and You alone have closed the door fully on Grace... You can't Cheat Guru's Grace.
Dangerous Friend: Devotion to the guru and the lineage is the high-octane fuel in the engine of practice. O- This is True..
Dangerous Friends: The end of the path is reached solely through devotion. O- This and Surrender --- Devotion to the Practices .. Devotion to the Path --- Devotion to Vajra Master
Dangerous Friend: The student must maintain 'pure vision' - viewing the vajra master as continuously acting for the benefit of beings, and regarding all of his or her behavior as manifestations of unceasing enlightened activity. O- Indeed --- this is needed...
Dangerous Friend: In Vajrayana, the emphasis is on an inner commitment, not an outer one: one uses one's awareness of the teacher from moment to moment. Seeing the teacher continuously as a buddha. Seeing everyone, including oneself as a buddha O- Eyes must remain on Truth ...
Dangerous Friend: Vajrayana practice is the Middle Way. It refuses both the spiritual suicide of "rational control" on one hand or "mindless surrender" on the other. The Vajrayana practitioner must stand on shifting ground - we have ceased to be the person we once were, but we have not yet become the person we aspire to be. O- One Surrenders into the Practices --- the Sadhaka remains on shifting ground as every time the ego get's comfy Guru is there to pull out the rug... Ego that gets comfortable isn't being swept away it's rather being supported...
Dangerous Friend: Once we perceive the small space of our habitual mind, we begin to long for the open vastness we have glimpsed in the eyes of the teacher. We begin to understand that in giving up the dubious freedom of following our dualistic rationale, we are in fact losing nothing and gaining the possibility of everything. O- This is True...
Dangerous Friend: As for the vajra master, there is nothing more significant that one human being can do for another. O- Guru gives what may be given... to aide humanity to come out of suffering and to climb down from the karmic wheel.... To remain and join the ashram, Kundalini: From Hell to Heaven is required reading.
