In order for our guests to better enjoy their meals while here, please carefully read the information below. - Please refer to your rental contract for mealtimes. WE SERVE MEALS AT THE TIMES LISTED IN YOUR RENTAL CONTRACT. Our Food Service Staff works hard to provide hot and delicious meals for your stay and we ask that your Group Members be prompt to meals. SAFETY – - Camp Burton is located in a residential neighborhood with a public road dividing the camp property. When Guests Groups or campers are using the camp, buildings remain unlocked at all times. The exceptions are the Lodge and Grisham Hall which are locked between 11 pm and 7 am. We have been fortunate to live in a low crime, low vandalism, low intruder neighborhood. However, we encourage guests to keep any valuables locked in their vehicles and to keep their vehicles locked when not in use. Incidences of theft or vandalism should be reported to your Guest Group Leader and then the Camp Staff Host for follow up. - Visitors: Occasionally visitors will stop by the camp or neighbors will walk through the property while we have Guest Groups. Camp Burton Site Staff are aware should an ěun-welcomeî guest wander in to camp and they will ask this person what they need. Upon the rare occasion that an inappropriate event occurs and assistance is necessary, other staff may assist and local authorities may be called. We encourage Guest Groups to be aware of ěquestionableî people that may not be part of the camp and contact their Camp Staff Host for assistance as needed. - Restricted Areas: Some areas on our grounds are limited to use by Camp Staff Personnel. These areas include: the kitchen, maintenance shops, and the staff residence areas. Be aware of the poison oak areas along the bluff above the water. They are fenced and clearly marked. - Restrictions: Gas and liquid flammables, explosives, livestock medications, and other hazardous materials will be handled only by person trained or experienced in their safe use and disposal and stored appropriately: with access limited to trained persons; in closed, safe containers that are plainly labled as to contents; and in locations separate from food. Hand and power tools are not to be used by Guest Groups on the site without permission from the Camp Staff Host. This includes personal power tools. For work parties the Site Manager will supply tools. Gasoline stoves, lanterns and liquid flammables (including white gas or Coleman fuel) are prohibited from use on all camp properties. Electric appliances are prohibited unless provided by or permission is granted by the Camp Staff Host. Such prohibited appliances include without limitation, televisions, soft drink coolers, frying pans, toasters, electric heaters and electric blankets. Small personal sports items such as baseball gloves are permitted at owners’ discretion, with no implied or actual liability or responsibility of the Camp.
HEALTH/EMERGENCY – We do not have medical staff on site for Guest Groups. Guest Groups are responsible for their own first aid, medical assistance, and/or medical transportation. The Camp Burton Host should be notified of medical needs and will assist with securing emergency services as needed. There are several first aid kits available – please check with your Host. Any first aid supplies brought by the Guest Group must be stored and supevised properly by the Guest Group. The Guest Group is strongly advised to provide an adult, currently certified in American Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent and CPR. This person should be on site at all times. To assist in emergency situations we ask that Guest Groups gather information on all participants that includes: - Full name and address - Emergency contact names and numbers - a listing of known allergies and health care conditions requiring treatment, restriction, or other accommodations - It is recommended that every minor, without a parent on site, have signed permission to seek emergency treatment or a signed religious waiver. - Completion of Camp Burton’s Incident or Accident report forms as necessary.
